There are multiple types of brakes on your vehicle each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

The most common types of brakes found on vehicles include:

Disc Brakes : These brakes use a rotor and caliper to create friction and slow down the vehicle. They are known for their ability to dissipate heat quickly, making them an ideal choice for high-performance vehicles or vehicles that are used for towing.

Drum Brakes : These brakes use a drum and shoes to create friction and slow down the vehicle. They are less expensive to manufacture and maintain than disc brakes, but are less effective at dissipating heat, which can cause them to fade under heavy use.

Anti-lock Brakes (ABS ): This type of braking system is designed to prevent the wheels from locking up during hard braking, which can cause the vehicle to skid. ABS uses sensors to detect when a wheel is about to lock up and adjusts the braking pressure accordingly.

Parking Brake : Also known as a handbrake or emergency brake, this is a separate braking system that is used to hold the vehicle in place when parked. It is typically engaged manually using a lever or pedal, and is separate from the main braking system.

It's important to have a basic understanding of the different types of brakes used on vehicles, so that you can make informed decisions about the maintenance and repair of your vehicle's braking system.
